How to care for Lithium-ion batteries

.

  • Most power tool batteries today will automatically stop producing power before running too low.

  • Charge as soon as possible.

  • Try and 'top up' your batteries before they actually stop, like after every use.

  • You can charge your lithium-ion battery more often.

  • Once you are at 100% remove the battery from the charger. The chargers do have protection from overcharging once at 100% but if you remove them, they will have a longer overall life.

Some Ideas

  • If you have multiple batteries try to cycle them through the use, charge, store cycle equally. Maybe the best way to do this is to mark them in some way, ie; 1, 2, 3, etc.

  • Use your batteries with confidence, learn what type you have. Treat your batteries according to type.

  • It is best to take the batteries off the charger when done, no matter which type you use.

  • Remember batteries do not last forever! If you are going to upgrade your batteries, but not your tools, you will need to get more parts. You are going to need new chargers and new batteries.

  • Think about the state of your power tool, and decide if retiring it is better than just getting your batteries rebuilt. Is buying new tool kits, with new chargers, tools, and new batteries, cost effective?

  • When your rechargeable power tool batteries have reached the end of their life why not get them restored, or rebuilt?

  • Don't throw them in the rubbish, because when batteries corrode, their chemicals soak into the soil and contaminate groundwater and surface water. Lithium batteries could even cause a landfill fire.

  • Try and get your tool batteries refurbished and reduce the hazardous waste.

Get your power back again

There must be tons of power tool batteries laying around in boxes, in old power tools, on dusty shelves, or just waiting to be tossed in the rubbish. How many have you thrown out, over time? There are many power tools that are still working, with plenty of life still in them. It really is just the batteries that do not work anymore. Well, here is the place where you  can get these batteries rebuilt at a fraction of the cost of replacing them, with new ones.
